Arrive early to find a good spot along the colorful parade route of Elizabeth’s Portugal Day Parade. Or honor the culture and heritage of our African-American community when the Juneteenth Parade and Cultural Celebration rolls into town. Learn how to dance salsa at the Puerto Rican Parade & Festival. Or maybe chow down on authentic cuisine during both the Peruvian Parade and Cuban Day Parade. And don’t forget about our Peterstown Cultural Festival celebrating all things Italian-American with cheesy food vendors and carnival rides.
Whatever festival you attend, dress accordingly—most of our festivals are held during the spring and summer months.
Festivals aside, Elizabeth also hosts various annual events for all kinds of travelers—history buffs, foodies, and those athletically inclined.
Every spring, our city streets transform into a huge biking path for the Tour de Elizabeth. You don’t have to be the best cyclist in the world or remotely fast to enter, and all ages are welcome. Our cycling event features a 15-mile casual tour through our city’s parks, historic monuments, and landmarks. Every winter, see the sights on foot while running in our city’s Jingle Bell Run 5K, also open to all ages and skill levels. Festive costumes are encouraged.
If food is more your thing, there’s a fall event for you—the Annual Taste of Elizabeth. Buy your tickets in advance for this foodie event, which features dozens of Elizabeth restaurants and bars all under one roof.
More of a history buff? Attend our summertime Hamilton Historic Tour that celebrates one of our nation’s founding fathers and Broadway phenomenon, Alexander Hamilton, and his contributions to our town’s landmarks. Other annual events include our Car and Bike Show.
Every May, our city participates in the annual National Travel and Tourism Week.
